Kitee Kuntavaakuna / Kommunvapen

Official blazon

Puna-mustakatkoisessa kilvessä hopeinen ruoriratas.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 7, 1953.

The arms show a steering wheel of a ship. The wheel symbolises the importance of shipping on the lakes for the local community. In 1833 the first steamboat was launched in Puhos in the municipality for sailing on Lake Saima.
