Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms are technically not real arms, as they are not shown on a shield. Instead, a spiral shaped field, based on the Mpande shell is used. This shell was used in former times as currency. The bull represents the importance of cattle for the population, the fish is a Tiger Fish, an important source of food. The arms are ensigned with mahangu, the typical cereal of the area.

The homelands, and thus the arms, were abolished in 1990 at the independence of Namibia.
