KARUP

Region : Midtjylland
Amt (until 2007) : Viborg
Additions : 1970 Frederiks
Incorporated into : 2007 Viborg

Arms (crest) of Karup

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1976.

The arms show a black grouse, a typical bird found in the region, but now extinct. The division line symbolises the two former municipalities Frederiks and Karup. The black symbolises the moors, the silver the Karup river. The grouse was also part of the former Viborg Amt.
