KARIBA

Province : Mashonaland West

Arms (crest) of Kariba

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The shield shows the lake behind the Kariba dam and the river flowing from it. The figure in the river is the traditional God of the river, which had a snake-like appearance. The dam is also shown on the crest, together with an elephant as a symbol of the local wildlife.
