Origin/meaning

The first and fourth quarter are derived from the arms of the Valencia province in Spain. The village is known as the Village of Valencia (Pueblo del Valenciano).

The second quarter shows a crescent and stars, symbols for the St. Mary, patron saint of the village. The cross symbolises Christianity.

The third quarter shows a tobacco plant, an important crop in the area and important in the development of the village. The chimney symbolises the (sugar) industry.

The wavy bend symbolises the Valenciano River.

Often the arms are shown surrounded by two branches of the junco plant, from which the town's name is derived.
