JAWA BARAT

Jawabara.jpg

Origin/meaning

The shape of the shield is derived from the shields of the former colonial powers. The center of the arms shows a Kujang, a typical type of weapon from the Sunda islands and Java. The weapon is flanked by cotton and flax, two crops in the region. The base of the arms show the rivers, channels and dams on the lower right side, and the fertile ricefields (sawahs) in the lower left half (chequered quarter). The motto means : Richness for all and living in harmony.
