Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 1, 1978.

The arms are canting, the name means 'green stone', which is shown by a green escarbuncle. The fleur-de-lis are the symbol of St. Mary, the local patron saint.

The shield is flanked by coffee and corn branches, the main crops in the region.
