Origin/meaning

The sun in the upper left corner stands for "The East" (Istok meaning east). The blue and white bends symbolise the water flowing down the slopes of the Wet Mountain. The orb symbolises the Medieval seat of Bishopric of Hvosno in the city.

The red lions are derived from the arms of the Medieval House of Brankovich, Lords of these lands, the vine leaves for rich vineyards.

The compartment shows the heart-shaped natural rock above Istok township.

The banners are the flags of Serbia and the city.
