Origin/meaning

Ilsfeld was an important town in the county of Württemberg. Although the village was walled, it never officially became a city. Nevertheless it has one of the oldest known village seals in the country. It dates from the early 15th century and shows already the same image as the present arms. Only the deer antler is placed mirrorwise.

All later seals and arms show the antler and the tree, in the present form since 1684 and in the present colours since the end of the 16th century.

The antler is taken from the arms of Württemberg, the origin of the tree is unknown.

Siegel von Ilsfeld

The municipal stamp shown in 1892
