Origin/meaning

The deer (Hirsch) is a canting element. The lower half shows a typical (road)cross, which stands on the road from Boritz to Riesa. This type of crosses is typical for the region. The cross is the arms is larger than most crosses, hence it was chosen as a symbol in the arms. The windmill symbolises the agriculture in the area, and the many windmills that used to be in the region.
