Selected collector's items from Germany:

HERZOGENRATH

State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Aachen
Additions : 1971 Kohlscheid, Merkstein

Wappen von Herzogenrath/Arms (crest) of Herzogenrath
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms show the lion of the Counts (later Dukes) of Limburg, who granted the city rights in the 2nd half of the 13th century. The first seal from around 1280 already shows the lion, as do all later seals of the city. In 1919 and 1973 the arms were confirmed, but without the crown of the arms of Limburg.

The arms of Herzogenrath were also used by the Lords of the city, and can be seen in the arms of several villages, mainly in the Netherlands, such as Vaals and Kerkrade.
