Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on February 20, 1923.

The fleur-de-lis and the stars in the arms are symbols of the Virgin Mary. The town became a property of the Monastery of Speyer in 1057. The patron saint of this monastery as well as the town's church is the St. Mary. The fleur-de-lis was also the symbol used on the seals of Herxheim, which are known since the 17^th century. The colours are taken from the colours of the arms of the monastery in Speyer.
