Hersbruc.kreis.jpg

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 17, 1963.

The arms show in the upper part the arms of the city of Nürnberg, as the largest part of the district historically was part of the State of Nürnberg. The lower part shows the arms of the Lords of Hohenstein, who owned several castles in the district and who played an important role in the local history.
