HEROLDSBACH

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Forchheim
Additions : 1971 Oesdorf, Poppendorf, Thurn

Heroldsbach.jpg

Official blazon

Gespalten von Rot und Gold; vorne ein herschauender goldener Löwenkopf mit einer goldenen heraldischen Lilie im Maul; hinten ein schwarzer Steinbockrumpf.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 23, 1974.

The arms are a combination of the arms of the two most important families in the history of the village. The ibex is taken from the arms of the Lords von Bünau, the lion from the arms of the Lords von Gotsmann. As both families were vassals of the State of Bamberg, the colours were changed into the colours of Bamberg.
