Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 5, 1986.

The first quarter shows some hemp leaves, as the name is probably derived from Hanffeld (hemp-field). The third quarter shows three balls, the symbol of St. Nicholas, the local patron saint.

The left half of the arms with the eagle and ring, is derived from the arms of the Pfinzing family, an important family in the local history and owners of the castle from 1530 until 1764. The escutcheon shows the arms of the medieval Lords of Henfenfeld, who lived at the local castle in the 11th century.
