Official blazon

In Silber ein blau gekleideter, bärtiger Heidenrumpf mit blauer Zipfelmütze über silbernem Turban.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 18, 1848.

The arms show a canting Heiden (heathen), most likely a Turk. The head is known as a symbol for the town since 1556 when it appears on the seal of the town. The head does not appear in a shield until the 19th century. The colours were not standardised until the end of the 19th century.
