HAUS IM ENNSTAL
State : Steiermark
District : Liezen
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on October 29, 1962.
The arms are canting. In times past, "Haus" or "festes Haus" did have the meaning of castle or fortress. So, a tower or castle was put into the arms.
In chief, a Cardinal's hat is placed. Haus was a possession of the Archbishop of Salzburg until 1803. The Archbishop bears the title of "Legatus natus Apostolicae Sedis", a born legate of the Holy See, and of Primas Germaniae (Primate of Germany). Traditionally, the Archbishop may wear a Legate's reds. In addition to this, until the 20th century, many Archbishops were also cardinals.
