Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 4, 1996.

The three hazelnuts are a canting symbol, as is the silver bar (Bach=stream, brook). The base shows the fact that the village is situated near the Schiefergebirge mountains in Thüringen. These mountains are characterised by the loose flat stones, which is symbolised by the lower half. At the same time the stones are used often and widely as tiles on the roofs and walls of the local houses.
