Origin/meaning

The city Halle-Neustadt was founded in the summer of 1964 and should be a town only for the people, who worked in the formerly big chemical industrial plants in Buna and Leuna.

The coat of arms was created in 1984 as a result of the 20th jubilee of the town. The red colour and the star in the key should symbolise the nearby town of Halle. The star in the key symbolises a benzol-ring, which show the connection to the chemistry. The key itself stands for the houses, that were built between 1964 to 1989. The yellow and green ellipses at the bottom should symbolise two leafs for a prosperous town. The three doves symbolise the young population of the town and there solidarity for peace.
