Official blazon

(de) In Gold eine blaue Burg mit zwei vierfenstrigen Türmen mit roten Spitzdächern und Knäufen, verbunden durch eine gezinnte Mauer mit geöffnetem schwarzen Tor und goldenen Torflügeln; zwischen den Türmen schwebend ein aufrechtstehender schwarzer Schlüssel mit Bart nach rechts.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 18, 1995.

The arms show a castle and a key. The composition was already used on the oldest seal of the city Neu Haldensleben, dating from the 14^th century. The castle probably symbolised the local castle or city gate at the time. The meaning or origin of the key is not known.
