GUAYNABO
Origin/meaning
The cross is the symbol of Saint Peter, Martyr of Verona, an illustrious figure and Patron Saint of Guaynabo. Green and silver are the colours of Guaynabo and thus were used in its flag and coat of arms. The fortified house in the coat of arms represents the village of Caparra the earliest European settlement and first Capital City of Puerto Rico The small coat of arms with the lion represents the first governor of Caparra, Juan Ponce de Leon.
