Origin/meaning

The arms were granted by Elizabeth Queen of Castilla and Fernandus King of Aragon, grandparents of the Emperor Charles V, who once married founded modern Spain as a whole state. They conquered the city of Guadix from the Moors.

The symbols, a bunch of arrows and a yoke, are the badges of Castilla and Aragon and thus of the grantees of the arms.
