Un scut tăiat; în partea superioară, pe câmp albastru, se află o cruce latină, ținută de un arhanghel înaripat, de argint aureolat, de aur, plasat în dreapta, și de un leu de aur, rampant, încoronat și limbat, cu coada bifurcată, plasat în stânga. În partea inferioară, pe câmp roșu, se află o cetate de aur cu cinci bastioane. În interiorul cetății se află o carte deschisă, naturală. Scutul este timbrat de o coroană murală, de argint, formată din șapte turnuri crenelate.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 30, 1998.

The silver archangel and the Latin cross symbolize the role of the Orthodox Church in the evolution of the spirituality of the city's inhabitants.

The crowned lion symbolizes the defense fight waged by the voivodes over time.

The construction symbolizes the Oradea Fortress.

The book alludes to culture; In the last century, the Academy of Law operated here, and today there are a number of cultural institutions, such as the University.
