Origin/meaning

The combination of a stork and the deer antler already appears on the oldest known seal of the town, dating from 1478. The seal shows the stork between two antlers, later seals show a single antler above the bird. The meaning of the stork is not known, it has been stated that the bird was chosen as many of these birds could be found in the nearby Aipertal. The municipality uses at present the above right arms with a small eel or worm in the beak of the stork.
