Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on January 2nd, 1468 by Duke Siegmund from Österreich-Tirol, who at the time owned the estate Werfenstein, to which the village belonged.

Shipping was of great importance for the town. The arms show a wooden ship with three pilots manoeuvring between the rocks in the river.
