The arms were granted on August 10, 1938.

The arms show a windmill, the last surviving windmill in the former Alfeld district. The windmill thus was very characteristic for the village and taken as the village arms. The deer antler in the base is taken as a symbol for the arms of the Alfeld district, which showed a silver deer.
