State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Ebersberg
Additions : 1978 Elkofen, Nettelkofen (partly), Straußdorf

Wappen von Grafing bei München/Arms (crest) of Grafing bei München
Official blazon
German In Gold ein steigender schwarzer Bär.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms show a black bear. The bear is already depicted on the oldest seals of the city, dating from the 15th century. Sometimes the bear is shown facing left, but most often as in the present arms facing right. The origin of the bear is not known. The colour of the bear has always been black, but the field has been silver, red in the 19th century and gold in this century.
