Escudo de Godall

Official blazon

Escut caironat truncat i semipartit: 1r. de sinople, un món d'argent cintrat d'atzur i somat d'una creu grega patent d'argent; 2n. losanjat d'or i de gules; 3r. d'or, 4 pals de gules. Per timbre una corona mural de poble.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 21, 1983.

The orb or mound royal in the first partition is the attribute of St. Saviour, the local patron saint. The second partition show the lozengy of the Centelles, the landlords of the village, and the third partition has the royal arms of Catalonia-Aragon (four red pales on gold) that remind the jurisdiction of the counts-kings (Godall was given by the count Ramon Berenguer IV to Guillem de Copons, baily of Tortosa, in 1153, and was ruled by the Centelles family, that in 1238 gave the charter to the village).
