Re-established from Nyköping in 1991 from parts of the former Gnesta municipality as well as the former Daga (1952 Björnlunda, Gryt, Gåsinge-Dillnäs) and parts of Tystberga (1952 Bogsta, Bälinge, Lästringe, Sättersta, Torsåker) municipalities.

Official blason

  • (1957) I grönt fält en skära av silver, bakifrån stödd av en upprest lokatt av guld med tunga, tänder, klor och fläckar röda.
  • (1992) I grönt fält en björk av guld.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1992.

The arms show a birch, taken from the seal of the Daga hundred, to which most of the area historically belonged. Compare also the arms of Daga.

The previous arms were granted on January 10, 1957.

Gnesta kommunvapen

The sickle refers to the agricultural character of the time, the lynx refers to the Kattnäs area in the municipality as a canting element.
