GLINDE

State : Schleswig-Holstein
District (Kreis) : Stormarn

Glinde.jpg

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 27, 1965.

The upper half shows a wheel, symbolising the water mill in the village, which was of great importance for the local industry since medieval times. The lower half is a partly canting element. Glinde means area surrounded by a fence. The lower half thus shows a fence surrounding trefoils, which symbolise the importance of animal husbandry and dairy farming. In 1879 a large dairy estate was founded in the village to provide milk and dairy products for Hamburg.
