Arms of Gjern

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were registered in 1977.

The pot symbolises the local history of pottery. From 1973-1977 the municipality used a green shield with a brown pot, with a blue wavy bar for the Gudenå river and tree brown hills for the local hills.

Arms of Gjern

This design was simplified in 1977. The design of the pot was based on a local type of pot, a Barselpotte, used in local traditions. It thus symbolises the local community and good neighbours.
