Administrative division

Georgia is divided into 9 regions, 1 city, and 2 autonomous republics. These in turn are subdivided into 69 districts, which are divided into cities and villages.

The regions are:

  • Guria
  • Imereti
  • Kakheti
  • Kvemo Kartli
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti
  • Shida Kartli
  • Tskinvali or South Ossetia (de facto independent)

The autonomous republics are :

  • Abkhazia
  • Adjaria

Civic heraldry

Not (yet) many of the districts, cities, towns and villages use arms, but the number is increasing.
