Origin/meaningGangelt was in the 13th century a possession of the Lords of Heinsberg. The oldest seal, which dates from the late 13th century, thus shows the double-tailed lion of the Lords of Heinsberg with a bend between its paws, probably to distinguish the seal from the seal of the city of Heinsberg. In the early 20th century the arms below were shown in the Kaffe Hag albums. These arms show only the lion of Heinsberg.
