Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 26, 1954.

The three diamonds in the upper half of the arms are taken from the arms of the Lords von Hohenberg. The oldest reference to the family dates from 1170 with Dietrich I von Hohenberg. In the 11th and 12th century they built the local Hohemburg (later Homburg) castle, now one of the largest castle ruins in Bavaria. They became extinct in 1381.

The lower half shows the points of Franken, the region in which the village is situated, and also the symbol of the Diocese of Wurzburg, to which the village belonged until 1803.

The blue base refers to the Wern river.
