Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on August 24, 1967.

The two bear claws are taken from the arms of the Lords von Zeyern, who, in medieval times owned and developed the village (1550a.wsa.jpg, see also Zeyern). The water mill wheel represents the former sawmills and their importance for the local economy in previous centuries. The red and silver are the colours of the arms of the Lords of Reitzenstein (059a.wsa.jpg, who also played a role in the local history.

Literature: Stadler, 1990.
