===Origin/meaning===
The arms were officially granted on March 23, 1993.
The arms show the locally important Oberbaumbrücke, a landmark for the district. The base shows a carp, already taken from the older arms of the district and a symbol for the formerly important fishing in the area. Originally they are the arms of the municipality of [[Stralau]], which became a part of Friedrichshain in 1920.
The arms replaced arms granted in 1987:

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 23, 1993.
