Wappen von Freren

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1950.

The arms show a water-lily branch, which is locally named the Aablume, the city is situated along the borders of the Aa river. The golden colour symbolises the sandy hill on which the city was built, among the marshlands.

The 19th century seals of the city showed only a crown in a shield. The meaning thereof is not known.
