Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted in 1940, but have been in use much longer. The arms are already seen on an image in the City Hall cellar of Solothurn from 1520.

The origin of the arms is not quite sure, but most likely the arms show St. Mauritius. On September 22 (the feast day of St. Mauritius) in 1514 Aymon de Montfalcon, Bishop of Lausanne, came to Flumenthal to inaugurate and bless the newly rebuilt church. As the inauguration day of the church was celebrated annually, St. Mauritius became the (informal) patron saint of the village.
