FITJAR

Province : Vestland (until 2020 Hordaland)

Arms (crest) of Fitjar
Official blazon
Norwegian

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted in the late 1940s.

The arms show a Viking helmet, and the helmet and the colour are derived from the fact that King Håkon wore a golden helmet at the battle of Fitjar in 961.
