Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 4, 1927.

The arms are identical to the arms of the Le Maistre d'Anstaing family. Esplechin was an estate held by the Lords of Artevelde until 1447. They were succeeded by the Cotterel family and through some other families the estate became a possession of the Le Maistre d'Anstaing family around 1775. The estate was abolished in 1793 and the municipality adopted as arms thus the arms of the last Lords of Esplechin.
