Wappen von Erding

Official blazon

(de) In Silber eine schräg gestellte blaue Pflugschar.

Origin/meaning

The plough-iron as a symbol for the city already appears on the oldest known seals, which date from the late 13th century. Ever since the iron appears on the seals of the city, and in the arms shown in decorations, books and other sources. The colours are known since 1523 and have not changed since.

The meaning may be that it is a canting element, derived from a tool to work the soil (soil is Erde in German).

After the merger the arms were confirmed on August 4, 1978.
