Escudo de prata, duas trompetas de negro, realçadas do primeiro, passadas em aspa e atadas por um cordão de verde; em ponto de honra, um livro de ouro, realçado de púrpura, carregado de cinco escudetes de azul, postos em cruz, cada um carregado de cinco besantes de prata e envolvido por dois ramos de louro de verde frutados de ouro; em ponta, um búzio de púrpura realçado de prata. Coroa mural de três torres de prata. Listel branco com a legenda em maiúsculas a negro : “ ENCARNAÇÃO – LISBOA “.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on February 24, 1994.

The two trumpets in the arms are a symbol (herald) of the daily newspaper that is printed in the parish. The book is a symbol of the famous author Luís de Camões who originated from the parish.

The purple conch is a symbol for the people of the parish and the sound of the sea.
