Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on February 24, 1994.
The two trumpets in the arms are a symbol (herald) of the daily newspaper that is printed in the parish. The book is a symbol of the famous author Luís de Camões who originated from the parish.
The purple conch is a symbol for the people of the parish and the sound of the sea.
