Origin/meaning

The lion is taken from the arms of the COounts von Everstein, who ruled most of the area in the 12th and 13th century.

The wavy bend symbolises the rivers in the municipality, the Emmer, Ilse and Weser, whereas the water mill wheel refers to the former importance of watermills in the area.
