Origin/meaning

These arms have been officially granted on 13th October 1988.

The name of the village allude to the county of Pallars, in the Pyrenees, and it is said traditionally that their original inhabitants came from this area; the arms of Els Pallaresos show an element taken from the canting arms of this county, three golden "palles" (Catalan for "straws"). The black Tau or cross of St. Tecla is the attribute of the local patron saint of Tarragona, because the village has belonged until recently to the surrounding territory of this city.
