Origin/meaning

These arms have been officially granted on 26th November 1999.

These arms are canting: they show a "pi" (Catalan for "pine tree"). The chief show the Spanish arms (formed by the arms of Castile, Leon, Aragon, Navarre, Granada and, in the middle, the fleurs-de-lis of the Bourbons), that appear in the arms of the town by a privilege granted by the Spanish king Charles III, which named El Pinell de Brai "villa fidelissima" (very reliable town), in gratitude for its loyalty to Philip V in the Succession War.
