DZIERŻONIÓW (RURAL MUNICIPALITY)

Province: Dolny Śląsk
County: Dzierżoniów

Arms of Dzierżoniów (rural municipality)

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on August 27, 2009.

The arms show St. Mary, the patron saint of the 13th century church of Kiełczyń, which, according to legend, was chosen by Mary herself to built a church. The wheatears refer to agriculture.

The arms replaced older, non-heraldic, arms, showing the same symbolism, with an addition of a plough share and two crosses for the two churches in the municipality.
