Dunkerq.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The fish is the oldest known symbol of the city and can already be seen on a seal of the city from 1244. The lion is the lion of Flandres/Vlaanderen as the city was made into a larger port by the Counts of Vlaanderen in the 13 and 14th centuries.
