Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 31, 1932.

The arms are a combination of the arms of two families; the chevron and the stars from the Bertout family, and the tower with the eagle from the Carillo family. In the early 18th century Alexandre Bertout de Carillo, Lord of Dottignies was promote dto the rank of Viscount. The crown on the arms is the crown used by Belgian viscounts and the two greyhound supporters are also taken from the family arms. The arms were first used on the seal of the village known since 1776.
