Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 28, 1985.

The upper half shows the arms of Bayern and the lion of Nassau. The area belonged for centuries to the Kurpfalz (Palatinate), which was a part of the Kingdom of Bayern. In 1802 the are became part of Nassau. The lower half shows a grape vine and a wavy bar, symbolising the viticulture along the river in the municipality.
